Both motors go opposite direction at 180 degrees
« on: July 02, 2014, 12:52:25 AM »
Hello guys, I am new here and am having a problem with balanduino. Every time I stand it up (180 degrees) both motors go at full speed in opposite directions. I have been pulling my hair out and have tried everything I can to figure it out. I am using arduino ide 156 r2. It will communicate with pc and my phone but as soon as it stands up it goes crazy. Has anyone any ideas? Thank you for your time.

Steve

Hi Steve,

Welcome to the forum! Are you using the full kit or building your own version?

Anyway start by adding:

Code: [Select]
moveMotor(left, forward, 50);
moveMotor(right, forward, 50);
while (1);

In the bottom of setup: https://github.com/TKJElectronics/Balanduino/blob/a0a3e872acb763c2563a09e955d7c074e10f1610/Firmware/Balanduino/Balanduino.ino#L271. Make sure both motors are running forward.

If not, then you should try to swap these values: https://github.com/TKJElectronics/Balanduino/blob/a0a3e872acb763c2563a09e955d7c074e10f1610/Firmware/Balanduino/Motor.ino#L97-L102 or https://github.com/TKJElectronics/Balanduino/blob/a0a3e872acb763c2563a09e955d7c074e10f1610/Firmware/Balanduino/Motor.ino#L107-L112.

Do this until both run forward.

Regards
Lauszus

Thank you Lauszus, I got it from a friend who got the board from ebay. I think it is your first version as it has no screw terminals and no pwr switch. I put together the frame that I made from my cnc router. I will try all the stuff you listed and get back to you. Thanks again.

Sorry, but we don't sell the board on eBay - it must be a clone! Please consider buying from us in the future to support the endless of hours we have put into the product. You are welcome to make your own version of the robot using stock boards - that is the part of open source, but if people just clone our boards no one will gain anything, but the chinese that have copied our product.

There has always been a screw terminal and a power switch on the boards we have sent out, so it's clearly just a bad clone.

Thank you for letting me know this. I am going to see if my friend remembers if it was shipped from China. Either way I am glad he gave it to me. I would have hated to have paid for a clone.  Next item: How do I go about getting a board from you guys? I see from your website that it is currently sold out. Can I go ahead and put my order in even though you are sold out? Thanks again and I am sorry to have troubled you. Had I known that this was a clone I would not have bothered you.

Cheers,
Steve

Okay Steve. No problem.
As you can see unfortunately the main board is sold out at the moment: http://balanduino.com/buy-now. We will be ordering a new batch soon, but we have a few improvements to the main board which we will need to test before we will be releasing the board.
